Jacob Mafuleni

Jacob Mafuleni is a well-respected artist who has showcased his talents and gained notoriety for his performances as musician, singer, dancer, instrument maker, song arranger & teacher since 1992. Winning an award for best instrumentalist in Zimbabwe and Chiwoniso Maraire’s main sideman on vocals and mbira for many years, Jacob has performed & toured worldwide with many renowned bands & dance troupes. Jacob sings, dances, plays mbira, njari, marimba, guitar, & drums. Beside his stage performances, he is the director of Tsoro Arts Center in Harare, where he give lessons for free to the kids and the women of his neighbourhood. He is also often invited to give Shona traditional music workshops all over the world. He is also a brilliant designer, making beautiful and powerful mbiras and marimbas. In main of his projects, he is collaborating with his spouse, exceptionnally talented dancer, musician and vocalist Martha Thom.
